[OOM] Day Fifty-Four: Arabian niiiiiiiiiiights, 'neath Arabian moooooooons

“Hey there, Jafar!”

Jafar turns his head towards the intruder: One of the keybearers, Eden, leaning against a pillar in the throne room. He makes an annoyed noise -- at the very least, as vexing as this is, it’s not wholly unexpected.

“I believe the guards were ordered to keep you out.”

“Yeah, they’re going to have some pretty awesome headaches,” Eden says, chirpily, pushing off the pillar. “Your diamond, Aladdin -- …”

“Has been put to death,” Jafar says. He presses a hand to his chest, bowing his head in an appropriate display of mournfulness. “I meant only to keep him safe, but the Sultan -- ah, he’s a vengeful man, you see. When he heard that the boy had kidnapped the princess, he insisted he be put to death immediately.”

“And you let him?” Eden asks. For a moment, the boy’s smile drops away, and Jafar could swear that he recognises him from somewhere else, outside of Agrabah. Then it’s back, and he realises that the only familiarity he has with the boy is having seen more than his share of gormless, naive children in his travels. “Aw, man, Jaf, that sucks. I’m sorry. I know you wanted him alive.”

“It burdens my heart whenever any of my citizens die, but the streets will, perhaps, be safer with one less street rat,” Jafar says. “Will there be anything else?”

“Just one more thing,” Eden beams. “Do you have any cool rocks?”
